An excerpt from the book Sometimes I Just Stutter

It may seem as though you are the only person in the world who stutters. From what you have been reading, you now know that is not true. There are also many people who can help you with your stuttering problem. Of course your mom and dad can help. But sometimes that is not enough. Then you can go to a speech therapist. Many speech therapists know a lot about stuttering and will teach you how to make talking easier for yourself. More importantly, they will listen to what you think and feel about your own stuttering, and they are sure to understand.

They can also help your mom and dad to understand stuttering. And if you have a hard time at school, they can tell the teachers how to make things easier for you. Some speech therapists have specialized in stuttering therapy. (This may give you an idea how complicated stuttering can be!) Anyway, if your stuttering feels like a problem, ask your parents to take you to a speech therapist.
