Children tease each other for many different reasons. A child who is taller than the others is sometimes teased. The same may happen to a child who is very short.

October 22 is International Stuttering Awareness Day

10th Oxford Dysfluency Conference

One hundred ninety-two delegates from 32 countries met in Oxford, UK, marking 30 years since the first Oxford Dysfluency Conference (ODC) in 1984.  Several age-defying attendees of this year’s conference also were present at the inaugural conference.

Glyndon Riley Remembered

Our colleague, Glyndon Riley, passed away on September 2, 2014. He, and wife Jeanna — may she continue to be with us for many years to come — jointly demonstrated a life-long devotion to advancing our knowledge of stuttering, improving the communication and quality of life of children and adults who stutter, and made outstanding contributions to the enhancement of our discipline.

Back to School, Not to Stuttering

Being a high school senior, I’ve faced plenty of back-to-school days, which can be filled with energy and joy of seeing old friends and taking new classes, but also with anxiety of returning to a place filled with need to talk to speak a lot.

Jane Fraser, Hon. FRCSLT, serves as the president of The Stuttering Foundation of America, a position she has held since 1981. The oldest and largest nonprofit organization for the prevention and treatment of stuttering, the Foundation has grown tremendously in size, scope and outreach under her leadership and direction.
