George Springer

In the final game of the 2025 World Series, George Springer went 3-for-6 at the plate, scoring one run, and keeping his team in position to win their first title since 1993. Sadly, it wasn’t enough, this time, to lift his Toronto Blue Jays to victory in game 7.

Undoubtedly, many fans will be disappointed that George and his teammates could not bring home another victory. But Brandon Kelly, who views George as a hero for both his athletic prowess as well as his openness about his stutter, is beaming with pride.

“I’m just so proud that the Blue Jays made it this far,” said Brandon, who’s met George many times, and spoken with him about his own experience with stuttering. "They worked really hard to get here, to the biggest stage in baseball, the World Series. George Springer faced some really tough challenges physically during the post-season and he never, ever gave up. He embraced them just like he embraces his stuttering, and that is so huge and inspiring to me."

Thankfully for Blue Jay’s fans, the stuttering community, and Brandon, George is planning to return to the diamond next Spring to help his team contend for the championship once again, and to continue inspiring many young fans who stutter with his inspirational message: "I understand I'm going to stutter. I don't care. It is what it is. It's not going to stop me from talking or having fun."

His advice to other young fans who stutter like Brandon? "Don't let anybody or anything get in the way of who you are and who you want to be."
