The Stuttering Foundation has been apprised of clinical trials of the new drug Pagoclone were conducted at 16 investigational sites nationwide for patients with persistent developmental stuttering.

 

 Participants who successfully completed the screening procedures were asked to take the investigational medication or a placebo for 8 weeks. At the end of the 8 weeks, they could have choose to participate in an extension of the study in which all subjects received the investigational medication for approximately one year.


All study subjects were monitored by a medical research team. Although no promises can be made that participants benefited from the study treatment, participants did receive, at no charge, the following:

  • Physical exams
  • Clinical laboratory testing
  • Stuttering assessments
  • Study treatment
